Welcome to Blu Pod At The Jetty

Blupod At The Jetty is a family owned business situated on the Beachport foreshore established in Dec 2004.

The retail shop offers a great range of giftware, men’s, women’s and children’s clothing along with fishing and dive gear and divers air!

2014 :)

We are nearing the end of summer and what a summer it has been. We have had some beautiful weather which everyone made the most of. Our kayaks were out on the water and our bike l fun on the streets of beachport.

The week leading up to Christmas I don’t think I have ever wrapped that many presents in my life. The shop was buzzing with everyone getting their last minute gifts.

We had Christmas day off, and then it was all systems go from Boxing Day onwards. As usual Boxing Day to New Year’s Day was crazy, but good crazy 🙂

On January 10th saw Abi, myself and Pam dress up in our Priscilla Queen of desert outfits and perform a routine to I Will Survive which we had been putting together for a couple of months. . The night was a fundraiser for the BDDA. It all went really well; everyone had a good laugh including ourselves. Attached is a picture of us 3 from the night.

One of the weeks during January saw us fill the most dive tanks we ever have in 4 years. We were filling 40 a day with a few big groups heading out every day. By the end I think we were filling tanks in our sleep.

On Australia day we held another successful parade on the Bompas lawn. All our models did a great job and our good friend Heather jumped on board to MC the parade.

In the mean time some amazing great changes have happened in the shop. We have our cool boat display which Lou put together last year, new shelfing and our mechanising queen Emma re-arranging the shop weekly. Keeping things new and fresh for all of you.

A couple of weeks ago Abi and I went off to Melbourne for the night to attend the gift fair, we found some amazing great new labels which have already started to arrive in store.

We are now busy planning a winter fashion parade on April the 12th, but unlike our usual ones on the lawn we are going to be holding an evening parade in the Bompas courtyard, with live music. Keep the date free !

This weekend coming up is Beachport Triathlon which we proudly sponsor. Looking forward to watching all the action from the shop, let’s hope for good weather.

Oh and Happy Birthday to us, Blu pod at the jetty turned 4 on the 17th of February 🙂

Peace x

The style of clothing each of us wears is an important form of self expression and communication, and people who wear vintage clothing have something to tell you.

Blu pod recognises Vintage – Recycled as an initiative that takes the economy and environment into account.

Why vintage?

Be Above the Trends – find vintage pieces to compliment the current fashion trends. Vintage helps to give your style character and a story.

Find a rare Gem Realistically, vintage clothes are usually not new. But sometimes you will find that special piece.

Save Money – The flip side of buying hand me downs is that is that you are not paying the price of a newly manufactured garment. So buying vintage clothing is a great way to save money.

Help the planet – Vintage clothes have already been used once, and by wearing them again, you are recycling them. You are not contributing to pollution (emissions from factories, dumping of dyes and chemicals, etc.), and you are saving those items from going into a landfill.

Here at Blu pod

Well what a busy half of the year it has been here at Blupod.
The start of the year saw us have a nice long summer which we all needed, plenty of fishing and diving and plenty of people, which we just love.

We have had lots of little changes here at Blu pod, with our store layout changing monthly. Which I must say is looking fantastic, it has opened the shop right up 🙂
Great new clothing labels have been hitting our racks and our own personalised Beachport canvas prints which have been a huge success, we even had an order for 2 of the prints to be sent to Las Vegas.

March saw Abi and I enter the Beachport Triathlon as team Blupod in the short course. For myself it was my first ever triathlon event so I was very nervous but was very happy with the end result. Abi kicked off my bike and run leg with one of the fasted swims of the day.
Blupod sponsored this year’s event with a great new peak tri suit with goggles and cap.

In May we had the chance to met Tony Abbott who was riding from Adelaide to Melbourne for Pollie pedal. The whole group stopped for coffee next door and even a browse here at Blupod with a few purchases being made by the group.

Fishing the last few months has been going really well, our little salmon hole has been going off! Locals are saying its some of the biggest fish they have seen get caught. With a lot of the salmon weighing over 4kg, let’s hope the salmon stick around for our salmon competition, which we are now busy gearing up for, which will be held in the July school holidays.

Keep you posted
Tiff 🙂

Some action down at the Salmon hole

What a crazy few months we have had since we were last on here. It started with a busy start to the month of April with Easter being on the 1st weekend, our beautiful town of Beachport was full of families and tourists down for the holiday break. We also had our wonderful Beachport markets on the Easter Saturday which again we attended, having set up a stand on the street with our popular Deal or no Deal game. Also a very busy time in the shop for Abi and myself, felt like we were back in summer out the back bagging extra bait, doing ice deliveries, rigging up roads and getting organised for the markets of course.

In this time we also got hold a great new label which will be exclusive to Blupod At The Jetty . It’s called ONE ONE SEVEN and has some amazing pieces. It will be arriving in September. Very exciting !!! Along with our Seafolly bather order, which we just love, the pieces this year are beautiful, something for everyone. I think you’ll find that we have returned to our more unique -slightly off beat look that we enjoyed in Blu Pod Creative Artists.
Winter featured a new guys clothing label s. OXYGEN and DISSIDENT, which have both gone really well. Great jeans in navy or black, dress shirts, stylish jumpers and much more.

We then head  into the month of May and it was time for me to say goodbye to Blupod and Beachport for the six weeks. I was off to EUROPE :)I had the time of my life. It was just amazing so much to see, I could go on for days. So probably should stop there 🙂
In this time Abi was busy working at the shop with a little help from Emma and Chris. Abi had a busy June long weekend on her own with the shop full of people and lots on. There was also some re arranging and moving of furniture and when I returned in the middle of June the shop was looking fabulous. A big change’ the store had opened right up.

Back into the swing of things here was the local Beachport Rivoli Bay Lions comp Salmon fishing competition to coordinate. This year was the biggest year ever for registrations we had 127 competitors. The catches were good this year with 500 fish being weighed in at the Beachport Hotel. The results were as follows

Senior winners:
1st Simon Whennan         – 2.712 kg
2nd Danny Golding          – 2.357
3rd Tayte Weston             – 1.86

1st Lana Barlow                – 1.999
2nd Julie Golding            – 1.273

1st Ben Rasmussen          – 1.320
2nd Oliver Chadstone    – .995

Aggregate               65 fish weighed in              combined weight – 22.82kg

We also had a special guest for the evening LEE RAYNER who used to be on the program IFISH but now has his own show ADVENTURE BOUND on foxtel. He presented the prizes on the evening and also talked about his new show. The night was a great success. Lee enjoyed Beachport that much that later on in the year he wants to bring his crew down and do some filming.

Now that we have wrapped up the salmon competition and the school holidays are over it has quieten down, but still lots to do around the shop and working out all orders for summer.
It’s also that time of the year for us to get organised for our trip to Melbourne for the annual gift fairs that are 2 weeks away.

P.S Have had some great new fishing rods arrive in, along with the popular snyder glass rods 🙂
